About The Position

Introduction to philosophical issues that arise from mathematics. Topics may include: platonism, logicism, formalism, intuitionism, mathematical application, and mathematical realism vs nominalism. This course will be accessible to students without a significant background in mathematics, but with an interest in the philosophical challenges that mathematics poses.

Requirements

  • PhD in-hand, preferably in philosophy.
  • Prior experience as a course instructor, preferably in Philosophy at U of T.
  • Advanced prior knowledge of the subject matter of the course and topic-related teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Related research and a record of research achievement is considered an asset to this position.

Responsibilities

  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
  • Completion of any course grading not already finished by December, 2026.
