The Department of Materials Science and Engineering requires a lecturer (50% FTE) to teach MSE 498H1 Y- Capstone Project during the Fall-Winter 2026-2027 semester. The successful applicant will be responsible for effectively delivering the course with all of the attendant organizational issues of lecture preparation and delivery, setting, supervision and marking of exams, final course marks, course evaluations, and so forth. The course involves students working in small groups to complete a project on the design of a materials processing plant, culminating in a design report. Topics covered include basic materials processing flowsheets for primary processing and recycling, materials and energy balance, computer software for flowsheet evaluation, translating flowsheets to resource and utility requirements, energy analysis, capital/operating costs, equipment sizing, operation scheduling, safety and HAZOP, plant layout, and design for sustainability.
