About The Position

This posting is for a Sessional Lecturer position for the course MATA31H3 - Calculus I for Mathematical Sciences. This course provides a conceptual introduction to the Differential Calculus of algebraic and transcendental functions of one variable, focusing on logical reasoning and fundamental notions. It serves as a first introduction to rigorous mathematical theory with applications. The course covers real numbers, set operations, supremum, infimum, limits, continuity, the Intermediate Value Theorem, the derivative, differentiability, related rates, Fermat's, Extreme Value, Rolle's and Mean Value Theorems, curve sketching, optimization, and antiderivatives. The lecture section is LEC04, scheduled for Tuesdays from 10-11 am and Thursdays from 9-11 am. The estimated course enrollment is 180 students, and there is one position available.

Requirements

  • Previous teaching experience as the instructor of a Mathematics course at the university level (required)
  • Previous teaching experience as the instructor for MATA31H3 or equivalent (strongly desirable)

Responsibilities

  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of an IN-PERSON university credit course
  • Preparation and delivery of course content
  • Development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams
  • Calculation and submission of grades
  • Submission of a deferred exam
  • Holding regular office hours
  • Supervising TAs assigned to course
