About The Position

This posting is for a Sessional Lecturer position for the course MATB41H3 Techniques of the Calculus of Several Variables I. The course covers topics such as partial derivatives, gradient, tangent plane, Jacobian matrix and chain rule, Taylor series, extremal problems (with and without constraints using Lagrange multipliers), multiple integrals, spherical and cylindrical coordinates, and the law of transformation of variables. The position involves all standard duties for teaching an in-person university credit course, including course preparation, content delivery, assignment and exam creation/marking, grade submission, deferred exam administration, holding office hours, and supervising Teaching Assistants (TAs). The estimated TA support is up to 60 hours per tutorial, with exact hours to be determined. The appointment is for the Fall 2026 term, from September 8 to December 31, 2026. The salary will be determined based on the Sessional Lecturer rank, with rates subject to the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Requirements

  • Previous teaching experience as the instructor of a Mathematics course at the university level
  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of an IN-PERSON university credit course
