The University of Toronto Faculty of Information is seeking a Sessional Lecturer for the Fall Term 2026 (September – December) to teach INF1325H – Online Information Retrieval. This course focuses on the principles and methods of information retrieval through academic and professional database searching. It investigates the characteristics of database organization, structure, and content, question analysis, search development and translation, and database selection. The course will include a critical examination of major vendors and their systems, as well as emerging themes and issues relating to online information retrieval. Weekly in-class activities require the use of a laptop. This course can be used to fulfill the “Technical” Professional Requirement. The estimated course enrollment is 35, with no TA support anticipated. The estimated hours for the role are 75, with allocation of TA hours based on enrollment numbers. The class schedule is to be determined (TBD). The lecturer is required to be located in geographical proximity to the applicable University premises to perform duties on University premises as of the Starting Date.
