About The Position

This physical geography course provides a broad introduction to the Earth System, involving the atmosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere and their interactions, at local to planetary spatial scales. It examines natural and anthropogenic origins of environmental change. Key methods and techniques used by physical geographers to study the Earth System are covered in lectures, readings, practical sessions and field work. Fieldwork is integral to all sub-disciplines of geography, and a major component of this course. There is no substitute for direct, hands-on exploration of the natural world. [24L/12P]

Requirements

  • Ph.D or PhD candidate in physical geography or related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content
  • Development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams
  • Calculation and submission of grades
  • Holding regular office hours
  • Supervising TAs assigned to course
  • Order all necessary readings

Benefits

  • In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, rate of pay is $9,997.48 for a Half (F/S) course, $19,994.95 for a full (Y) course. All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay.
