Sessional Lecturer - ENV495H5F: Restoration Ecology I (Sci)
About The Position
Restoration ecology is an emerging cross-disciplinary field of study that concerns human activities undertaken to promote the recovery, health, integrity and sustainability of degraded ecosystems. This course introduces the fundamental concepts of ecological restoration, addressing topics such as assessing ecosystem health, resilience, resistance and stability; community structure and biodiversity; invasive species; ecosystem processes and functions; societal aspects of ecological restoration (e.g., the relationship between social, economic and environmental sustainability). The mode of instruction for this course is online synchronous.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidate in Environmental Science or related field with specific expertise in the course subject content.

- Previous experience teaching a similar course
- Evidence of teaching excellence in the subjects covered in the course
Responsibilities
- All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content
- Development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams
- Calculation and submission of grades
- Holding regular office hours
- Supervising TAs assigned to course
- Order all necessary readings
Benefits
- In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, rate of pay is $9,997.48 for a Half (F/S) course, $19,994.95 for a full (Y) course. All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay.
