About The Position

The Department of Educational Foundations and the Indian Teacher Education Program (ITEP) in the College of Education, and the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning invite applications for an Out-of-Scope Sessional Lecturer to teach the community-based course EFDT 265.3 (E57) Foundations for First Nations Metis and Inuit Teaching and Learning during the Fall 2026 Session. The course will be delivered in-person on Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation, with a schedule of alternating Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent in Education or a related discipline and/or possession of relevant teaching or professional experience.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to engaging with Indigenous ways of knowing and to fostering respectful, reciprocal learning environments.
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit culture as well as indigenization and the decolonization of pedagogy to uplift and support Indigenous students.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for any off campus courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the community-based course EFDT 265.3 (E57) Foundations for First Nations Metis and Inuit Teaching and Learning.
  • Deliver the course as a Lecture (Live in-person on Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation).
  • Determine actual class times in consultation with the program, within the 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM timeframe on alternating Thursdays.
  • Engage with Indigenous ways of knowing and foster respectful, reciprocal learning environments.
  • Support Indigenous students by applying knowledge of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit culture, indigenization, and decolonization of pedagogy.
  • Prepare for and mark course materials.
