About The Position

Woodsworth College is seeking a Sessional Lecturer for ABP102Y1S - Diversity and Social Justice in Canada. This course is part of the Millie Rotman Shime Academic Bridging Program, an access program designed for mature learners who do not meet the direct admission requirements to the University of Toronto. The program bridges the gap between prior education and the skills needed for first-year university courses, catering to students who have been away from studies for two or more years. The course itself examines experiences of injustice in Canada from diverse perspectives, focusing on marginalized communities and their resistance efforts. The estimated enrollment is 30 students.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, and related disciplines.
  • Graduate work in a related field.
  • Teaching experience at the university level.
  • Proven success in academic skills development.

  • Experience teaching in Woodsworth’s Academic Bridging Program or another university-level access program.

Responsibilities

  • Design, preparation, and delivery of course content, including teaching lectures.
  • Development and administration of assignments, tests, and examinations.
  • Marking and grading of student work, and submission of grades to the College.
  • Coordination with instructors of other courses for part-time ABP Arts Option students.
  • Maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside scheduled classroom hours.
  • Use of Quercus (the web-based course management system) to communicate grades, announcements, course material, and academic resources online.
