About The Position

The Serviceman I is a general labor role at the cement plant in Union Bridge, Maryland, with potential for advancement into other positions within the organization. The position involves supporting plant operations through material handling, equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and other tasks as directed by a supervisor. The role also includes duties on the preheater tower and assisting with laboratory product sampling and procedures.

Responsibilities

Perform housekeeping and field inspections of plant equipment and processes.
Handle materials as needed using overhead cranes, front-end loaders, and other mobile equipment.
Locate, monitor, and inspect plant equipment.
Make minor mechanical repairs and adjustments, and troubleshoot equipment.
Report on, operate, repair, clean, feed, or adjust plant equipment as required by a supervisor.
Assist maintenance department personnel as needed.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and check lubrication systems.
Perform work on the preheater tower, including operating cardox, blasters, and air or water lances; cleaning ducts and vessels; and inspecting or troubleshooting equipment.
Assist with laboratory product sampling and procedures.
Use various tools and follow environmental and safety rules.
