About The Position

As a Service Technician (Levels I–IV) with a Modigent operating company, you will install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and optimize commercial HVAC systems for buildings, hospitals, schools, industrial facilities, and critical environments. You will deliver high-quality service that ensures reliable system performance, energy efficiency, code compliance, and outstanding customer satisfaction. Requirements

  • Level I: 0–3 years HVAC service or related mechanical experience
  • Level II: 3+ years commercial HVAC service/repair
  • Level III: 5+ years progressive commercial HVAC service
  • Level IV: 7–10+ years with proven mastery and leadership
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • EPA Section 608 certification required (Type II or Universal preferred for commercial work)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces or at heights, bend, kneel, stand/walk for extended periods, and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic/troubleshooting abilities (increasing with level).
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous learning.
  • Proficiency with hand/power tools, gauges, recovery equipment, and service software.
  • Ability to work independently (higher levels) while collaborating effectively with teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school, HVAC apprenticeship, or equivalent technical training preferred.
  • Additional certifications (NATE, manufacturer-specific, OSHA 30) strongly preferred at higher levels.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and service on commercial HVAC equipment (rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, VAV systems, controls, etc.).
  • Complete service documentation, work orders, and reports accurately and timely.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment on job sites and in company vehicles.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, OSHA standards, and company policies.
  • Focus on preventative maintenance, basic tasks, and learning under direct supervision (Level I).
  • Independently handle routine service, maintenance, and basic repairs with growing autonomy (Level II).
  • Perform advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, system startups, and troubleshooting with minimal supervision (Level III).
  • Lead complex service calls, mentor junior technicians, oversee major repairs/overhauls, and provide technical guidance to customers and teams (Level IV).
  • Informally mentor junior technicians (Level III).
  • Lead technicians on job sites; provide training, guidance, and work direction to Levels I–III (Level IV).
