The Service Technician II repairs and services crane machinery and equipment, working under the guidance of a qualified shop or field service technician during component disassembly, repair, reassembly, and testing. The role diagnoses equipment failures, repairs or replaces defective parts, cleans and inspects components, and reuses serviceable parts when possible to control repair costs. The technician prepares repair estimates, monitors job expenses against estimates, and alerts the lead person to cost overruns before work is completed. The technician uses dealer computer systems for work orders and documentation, and prepares accurate, legible parts requisitions, time cards, and service reports as requested. The role requires safe, orderly work practices, maintaining required tools and company equipment, keeping personal service literature current, and staying aware of technical changes in the industry. The technician may temporarily assume the lead person position as needed and performs other duties as assigned. Work is typically performed after regular business hours, with occasional requirements to work days, holidays, and weekends. The work environment includes frequent outdoor exposure without effective protection from weather, as well as exposure to noise, vibration, hazards, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils. Physical demands include frequent standing, sitting, walking, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motion, along with lifting, pushing, and pulling loads of varying weights.
