About The Position

The Diesel Shop Foreman Technician at Rush Enterprises provides leadership and operational oversight on the shop floor. The role guides diesel mechanics, supports their skill development, coordinates repair assignments, and helps ensure repair quality and shop productivity. The employee may also be asked to follow other instructions and perform other duties requested by their leader.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Two years of related shop and technician supervision experience.
• Must be insurable with the company’s carrier.

• Cat, Cummins, Eaton, Fuller, or other appropriate manufacturer certifications.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and motivate qualified diesel mechanics.
• Assist diesel mechanics in developing their skills with support from the Service Manager.
• Schedule repair work and assign technicians to mechanical segments that match their skill levels to ensure quality.
• Ensure repairs are assigned to mechanics in an equal and fair manner.
• Provide technical support to mechanics when necessary.
• Check the work-in-progress status of each repair order throughout the day.
• Maintain high-quality repairs and minimize comebacks.
• Conduct periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
• Road test vehicles to quality-check work performed.
• Monitor mechanics’ daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
• Follow other instructions and perform other duties requested by the employee’s leader.
