About The Position

The Service Clerk provides highly satisfactory service and assistance to guests by bagging groceries, carrying purchases to vehicles, retrieving and organizing shopping carts, completing bottle-return tasks, and performing janitorial duties as needed. The role helps ensure the shift contributes to the store’s financial interests and completes assigned duties in a timely manner. Associates may also be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs. The position is performed in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually low to moderate. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

Good oral communication skills.
Ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

Use proper bagging supplies and techniques when handling guests’ purchases.
Empty bottle bins and clean bottle machines and the bottle-return area.
Collect, return, clean, and organize shopping carts.
Carry out and load groceries into customers’ vehicles.
Know the location of products carried in the store.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
Work independently of others.
Perform cleaning duties and other assigned work in a timely manner.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines.
Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments when assigned based on customer experience needs.
Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
