About The Position

The Service Associate provides highly satisfactory service and assistance to guests, including bagging groceries, carrying purchases to vehicles, retrieving shopping carts, performing bottle-return tasks, and completing janitorial duties as needed. The role supports the financial best interests of the store during the assigned shift and completes other duties in a timely manner. The position is based at 525 S. Mayflower Rd, South Bend, Indiana 46619. Duties may also be assigned in other departments based on customer experience needs. The work takes place in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions. Noise is usually low to moderate. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

Good oral communication skills.
Ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide satisfactory service and assistance to guests.
Bag guests’ purchases using appropriate supplies and techniques.
Empty bottle bins and clean bottle machines and the bottle-return area.
Collect, return, clean, and organize shopping carts.
Carry out and load groceries into customers’ vehicles.
Know the location of products carried in the store.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
Work independently when needed.
Perform cleaning duties and other assigned work in a timely manner.
Follow personal protective equipment and safety guidelines.
Follow food safety, cleaning, and guest experience expectations.
Perform tasks in other departments as assigned based on customer experience needs.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
