Sells and schedules needed service work in the service department. Schedules service appointments, greets customers in a timely and friendly manner, and obtains vehicle information. Writes up customer's vehicle problems accurately and clearly on a repair order, and may test drive the vehicle with the customer to confirm the problem. Refers to service history, inspects the vehicle, and recommends additional needed service. Advises customers on vehicle care and the importance of maintenance according to manufacturer specifications. Provides customers with a complete and accurate written cost estimate for labor and parts, establishes a "promised time," and obtains customer signature on the repair order. Establishes the customer's method of payment and obtains credit approval if necessary. Notifies the dispatcher of incoming work and checks on repair progress throughout the day. Contacts customers regarding any changes to the estimate or promised time, explaining cost and time requirements in detail, and obtaining proper authorization before additional repairs are performed. Implements and maintains a service marketing program, reviews repair orders to ensure work completion and notes additional work and authorization. Closes repair orders as appropriate, ensures vehicles are parked, locked, and keys are handled correctly. Keeps service department forms, menus, and pricing guides up-to-date. Explains completed work and charges to customers, implements a quality control process to minimize comebacks, and maintains high customer satisfaction standards. Handles telephone inquiries regarding appointments and work in progress. Inspects vehicles for body work, informs customers if work is needed, and provides an estimate. Supervises cleaning and prepping of new and used vehicles, maintains a professional appearance, and keeps the work area clean.
