About The Position

The Server, also described as a Cocktail/Beverage Server, serves guests and may occasionally be assigned Hostess duties based on business needs. The role focuses on creating a welcoming guest experience, accurately taking and delivering food and beverage orders, and providing knowledgeable guidance about menu items, specials, dietary needs, and alcohol service guidelines. It also includes handling payments, maintaining clean and safe service areas, and meeting the physical demands of working on your feet throughout a shift. The Gunter Hotel is a historic San Antonio hotel dating to 1909 and located in downtown near the River Walk and the Alamo. Its dining and beverage venues include Bar 414 and Market on Houston.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and coworkers.
Obtain and maintain required certifications, such as Alcohol Awareness or a Food Handler’s Card, in accordance with state regulations.

Nice To Haves

Previous hospitality or food and beverage service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Greet guests warmly, take accurate orders, and attend to guest needs throughout their visit.
Know menu ingredients, dietary information, daily specials, and alcohol service guidelines to assist guests.
Deliver food and beverages promptly and accurately.
Manage multiple tables while maintaining smooth service and clean spaces, including during high-pressure periods.
Handle transactions, close checks, and follow company and security protocols.
Keep service areas clean and safe and follow hygiene regulations and certification standards.
Remain on your feet and lift, bend, and move throughout the shift.
Perform Hostess duties occasionally when assigned based on business needs.
