About The Position

The Executive Chef leads culinary operations at The Gunter Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk, overseeing food preparation and service across the Café, Room Service, Banquets, and other outlets. The role is responsible for creating high-quality dishes and memorable guest experiences while maintaining food quality, taste, presentation, sanitation, and safety standards. The Executive Chef leads and develops kitchen staff, manages food costs and budgets, and addresses operational issues to support efficient kitchen operations. The position also involves communicating effectively with co-workers and guests and keeping kitchen, work, and storage areas clean and compliant with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

Five years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field, including supervisory experience.
Ability to handle stressful, high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and objectivity.
Must meet certification requirements, which may include Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid.

Nice To Haves

A two-year college degree with at least three years of related experience, or a four-year college degree with at least one year of related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervise and assist with food preparation across outlets, ensuring high standards of quality, taste, presentation, and safety.
Lead, motivate, coach, and discipline kitchen personnel to support efficient, high-quality food preparation and service.
Manage food costs and budgets and maximize cost-to-production ratios to optimize financial performance.
Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in kitchen, work, and storage areas in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Anticipate and address issues proactively to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Communicate information clearly and resolve concerns from co-workers and guests effectively.
