About The Position

Des Moines Renaissance Savery is seeking a part-time AM Server for its StepStone Hospitality managed hotel. The Server creates memorable guest experiences by providing prompt, friendly, and professional service in a welcoming atmosphere. Responsibilities include taking and serving food and beverage orders, answering questions and making recommendations, processing payments, and maintaining clean and organized service areas. The role also involves following food safety, sanitation, safety, and cash-handling procedures and assisting other service personnel as requested.

Responsibilities

Take food and beverage orders accurately, enter orders into the POS system, write them in an order notebook, and repeat them back to guests for clarity.
Serve food and drinks promptly, courteously, and professionally.
Answer questions about menu items, ingredients, and dietary options; make suggestions about food, service, wines, and preparation; and know menu selections, wines, daily specials, and basic ingredients.
Check in with guests, address their needs, observe for additional requests, and recognize when meals are complete for checkout.
Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff to deliver orders correctly and on time.
Handle payments, issue receipts, return change, process credit cards, or refer guests to the cashier; follow cash-handling procedures.
Maintain cleanliness of tables, stations, and service areas.
Follow food safety, sanitation, and safety rules and procedures.
Greet guests warmly and enthusiastically, and assist the host or hostess with seating guests as needed.
Use proper service verbiage and etiquette, including serving ladies first and following seating etiquette guidelines.
Ladle soup, portion pies and desserts, and brew coffee.
Notify a manager immediately of guest complaints.
Assist service personnel with duties as requested.
