About The Position

Project Renewal is hiring a Server/Food Handler for opportunities in its Homeless Shelters and City Beet Kitchens in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. The role serves meals and snacks to residents, helps ensure food is kept at safe temperatures, supervises meal service, operates kitchen equipment, manages food stock, and maintains kitchen and food-service-area sanitation. Shifts are three hours, with flexibility to work one to three shifts daily for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The listed pay is $20.079 per hour.

Requirements

• Must have an NYC Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Must be able to work one weekend day as part of the shift.

Responsibilities

• Serve three meals daily and snacks to 50–200 residents, with attention to residents’ dietary restrictions.
• Keep hot food hot and cold food cold.
• Supervise the serving of meals.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.
• Assist with storage, control, and management of stock in accordance with regulations and administrative procedures.
• Ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of surfaces and storage containers.
• Support daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of the kitchen, equipment, and other food-service areas.
