SEO & AEO Team Lead

About The Position

Discovered Labs is hiring a remote SEO & AEO Team Lead to lead 2–3 delivery pods while managing a small number of client accounts directly. The role is a player-coach position: you will oversee the quality and health of pod clients’ accounts, guide strategy and delivery, develop team members, and stay hands-on with client work. SEO & AEO includes answer engine optimisation, also called GEO or AI search. Each delivery pod includes an SEO account strategist and SEO analyst, who collaborate with the editorial team on content operations. The strategists and analysts in the assigned pods report to the Team Lead. The role works closely with company co-founders, experienced marketers, ML engineers, and data scientists in an AI-native agency environment. The company uses internal tools and AI agents to support marketing work, and the Team Lead will use and help improve these systems. The position is fully remote, ideally within four hours of GMT, with flexibility for the right candidate. The role offers a path toward Head of SEO & AEO as the employee grows their team and the results delivered for clients. The expected commitment is 40 hours of meaningful work per week, with flexible working hours and meaningful overlap with GMT.

Requirements

  • A track record of owning SEO strategy, including plans and root-cause analyses built from GSC, GA4, Ahrefs, or equivalent data, and the ability to explain the work.
  • Evidence of reviewing and coaching other people's work, including deliverables reviewed before reaching clients and examples of improvement resulting from coaching.
  • Experience keeping several client accounts on track at the same time and a clear method for prioritizing attention each week.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.
  • Availability for a working day that meaningfully overlaps with CET.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Experience building tools yourself.

Responsibilities

  • Own a small number of client accounts as the account strategist, including client communications, fortnightly check-ins, signing off analyst-built 90-day plans, and presenting monthly reports connecting work to pipeline and revenue.
  • Attend weekly pod meetings and ensure each client has the next 30 days of work planned, reviewed, and assigned to owners.
  • Review and approve plans, reports, briefs, and root-cause analyses before they are shared with clients, while helping build a review framework that avoids becoming a bottleneck.
  • Identify account warning signs promptly, initiate root-cause analyses for at-risk accounts, and handle escalations by joining client calls, setting expectations, and agreeing recovery plans with strategists.
  • Work with strategists on 90-day plans, KPIs, and strategic decisions, and coach analysts to identify the causes behind changes in account results.
  • Manage and develop reporting strategists and analysts through fortnightly one-to-ones, quarterly reviews, and regular training based on deliverables, call reviews, and mock client calls.
  • Interview candidates and onboard new strategists and analysts before they independently work on client accounts.
  • Work with workflow owners to document and improve delivery standards and logic, ensure pods follow standards through the Definition of Done, and propose changes when reviews reveal gaps.
  • Use the company's AI agents on client accounts and collaborate with engineers to improve existing agents or build new ones.

Benefits

  • Fully remote work.
  • Flexible working hours, with an expectation of 40 hours of meaningful work per week.
  • Paid leave.
  • Career progression path toward Head of SEO & AEO.
  • Autonomy and the opportunity to contribute improvements to company systems.
  • Work with a small, senior team with direct feedback and quick decisions.
  • Annual company off-site at a destination.
