About The Position

The Health Sensing HW team architects and integrates next-generation optical health sensors into Apple products. The Sensor EE Architect will design, develop, and launch next-generation optical health-sensing technologies, serving as the main electrical engineering architect for the sensor system. The role involves analyzing tradeoffs between system constraints and sensor performance, enhancing product design, and driving failure analysis and design convergence from proof of concept through mass production. The architect will collaborate with optical, electrical, mechanical, process, reliability, test, and firmware/software engineers to deliver advanced sensing technologies. The role also requires influencing and leading cross-functional teams through key design and integration milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optics, or an equivalent field.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong foundation in analog and mixed-signal design.
  • Experience with schematic and PCB layout and component selection.
  • Experience in the design, manufacturing, or integration of sensor products.
  • Scripting experience for data analysis and automation.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong background in optical sensor architecture, design, and manufacturing, including mechanical engineering, EE, packaging, systems thinking, and requirements management.
  • Hands-on experience with EE and optical laboratory equipment.
  • Experience supporting volume manufacturing, including test design, failure analysis, and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Strong teamwork abilities and self-motivation to tackle technical challenges.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
