About The Position

As a member of Apple’s Sensing Systems team, the Sensor System Architect will drive architecture and technology development for next-generation Touch ID and Apple Watch Touch technologies. The role focuses on ensuring Apple devices are secure and provide intuitive, responsive touch interfaces. Work spans technology definition and product integration, from initial concepts and physics-based modeling through defining system requirements that guide mass production.

Requirements

  • Deep multidisciplinary understanding of electrical engineering, especially analog circuits, mechanical engineering, and physics principles.
  • Experience in sensor or related technology development.
  • Proficiency in algorithm development and signal processing for sensor systems.
  • Experience modeling complex cross-disciplinary systems using tools such as MATLAB, Python, SPICE, or similar.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design principles, finite element analysis (FEA), and advanced materials.
  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in control systems and/or estimation theory.
  • Experience with statistical tolerance or Monte Carlo analysis methods in a mass production setting.
  • Deep experience with multiphysics simulation tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, or Maxwell.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and technical leadership skills.
  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Drive architecture and technology development for next-generation Touch ID and Apple Watch Touch technologies.
