About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer will partner with electrical, optical, embedded firmware, and software algorithm teams to develop mechanical designs that integrate new technologies into early-stage data collection systems. The role involves helping set technical requirements, defining specifications, detailing designs, prototyping and fabrication, and owning the mechanical build process for low-volume system manufacturing. The position is part of Apple’s Data Collection Systems team, which develops sensing hardware for data collection and new feature development across Apple products.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical engineering and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of material selection and manufacturing processes based on engineering requirements.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and creating 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Bachelor’s degree.

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of real-world manufacturing and quality control processes, including IQC, IPQC, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, and GD&T.
• Fluency in Siemens NX.
• Familiarity with flexible and rigid printed circuit board design, fabrication, and assembly.
• Experience with thermal management and optical, force, or touch sensing technologies.
• Hands-on experience integrating electronics, sensors, and cameras to meet challenging packaging constraints.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with management, team members, and external vendors.
• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering with proven industry or internship experience.
