About The Position

This position is for a Senior Water Handler in the DPW – Water Division, AFSCME Local 1700, Grade 9. It is a full-time position with 40 hours per week. The role involves operating and repairing chemical pumps and motors, safely handling water treatment chemicals, performing interior and exterior maintenance on Water Plants and Pump Houses, and maintaining cleanliness of Water Treatment Plants, Pump Houses, and Water Towers. The Senior Water Handler must work harmoniously with other Water Department Personnel and will perform all assigned duties as required by the Water Superintendent. This role also requires the ability to perform all duties outlined in the Water Handler job description.

Requirements

• Must hold a certificate required by the Massachusetts Division of Registration for Drinking Water Facilities: Currently Grade 2T.

Responsibilities

• Operate and repair chemical pumps and motors of all kinds
• Handle water treatment chemicals at all times in a safe manner
• Perform maintenance inside and out of all Water Plants and Pump Houses
• Keep all Water Treatment Plants, Pump Houses and Water Towers clean inside and out
• Work harmoniously with all Water Department Personnel
• Work under the direction of the Chief Plant Operator
• Perform all duties as assigned or required by the Water Superintendent
• Perform all duties in the job description of the Water Handler
