About The Position

This systems engineering role applies a cross-functional approach to identifying and quantifying system requirements, developing and evaluating alternative system designs, selecting and implementing effective designs, and verifying system integration from concept through production and operation. The position influences approaches, projects, programs, and ways of working in its functional area, with significant input into priorities and moderate autonomy requiring strong operational judgment. The engineer integrates components and products to improve performance and operability; manages product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow-down; and drives system-level validation and verification, including testing. The role defines module, component, subcontractor, and partner requirements; manages interfaces between components and execution organizations; drives critical-to-quality and risk trade-offs; and maintains product configuration and configuration control. The position applies specialized engineering knowledge and best practices, contributes to strategy and policy development, and uses technical analysis and judgment to address moderately complex engineering and operational problems. It also serves as a resource to less experienced colleagues, may lead small projects with moderate risk and resource needs, and works to build consensus and influence decisions within its field.
