About The Position

Abbott is seeking an experienced, strategic leader to lead a team of clinical and scientific professionals helping healthcare systems optimize infectious disease diagnostic testing and patient care pathways. The role partners with health systems, hospitals, and integrated delivery networks to assess workflows, identify clinical and operational challenges, and recommend point-of-care diagnostic solutions that improve patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and healthcare value. The position combines healthcare system expertise, leadership experience, and scientific knowledge to guide customer engagements and support adoption and implementation of Abbott infectious disease diagnostic solutions.

The Director leads and develops Clinical Solutions Managers and Scientific Liaisons, sets team goals and performance expectations, and provides strategic direction for complex customer engagements and implementation projects. In partnership with healthcare stakeholders, the role evaluates current-state processes, identifies workflow inefficiencies and diagnostic gaps, and develops evidence-based recommendations. It designs workflow optimization strategies, builds business cases, supports implementation, and monitors outcomes. The role also provides scientific and clinical expertise, communicates complex information to varied audiences, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and supports real-world evidence and customer success stories. Travel up to 50% is required.

Requirements

• MD, PharmD, or PhD in a relevant life science or healthcare-related discipline.
• At least 10 years of experience within hospital or health system environments.
• At least 3 years of leadership or managerial experience within a healthcare system, hospital, or related healthcare organization.
• Demonstrated experience with healthcare operations, care delivery models, and workflow optimization.
• Experience participating in hospital purchasing, value analysis, procurement, and technology adoption decisions.
• At least 2 years of experience in the medical device, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Scientific Affairs professional, Clinical Affairs professional, or equivalent field-based scientific role.
• Strong understanding of infectious disease management and diagnostic testing pathways.
• Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with point-of-care diagnostics, infectious disease diagnostics, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, or related healthcare technologies.
• Experience conducting healthcare system assessments, operational consulting, or clinical transformation initiatives.
• Knowledge of healthcare economics, value-based care, reimbursement, and quality improvement methodologies.
• Experience engaging C-suite executives, laboratory leadership, infectious disease physicians, pharmacy leadership, and procurement stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success leading geographically dispersed teams.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to clinical, operational, executive, and procurement leaders.
• Design and recommend workflow optimization strategies using point-of-care and infectious disease diagnostic testing solutions.
• Develop business cases demonstrating clinical, operational, and economic value.
• Support implementation of diagnostic solutions and monitor outcomes related to efficiency, quality, and patient care.
• Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Marketing, and Customer Success.
• Provide scientific and clinical expertise related to infectious disease diagnostics, testing pathways, and healthcare delivery.
• Deliver presentations and communicate complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
• Stay current with industry trends, clinical guidelines, reimbursement changes, and healthcare system priorities.
• Support generation and dissemination of real-world evidence and customer success stories.
