The engineer will help customers protect mission-critical workloads, modernize application infrastructure, orchestrate cloud-native API architectures, and establish secure foundations for enterprise AI initiatives. The role involves guiding enterprise customers from established BIG-IP foundations toward modern hybrid architectures and aligning technical solutions with business outcomes.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in pre-sales engineering, systems engineering, technical consulting, or an equivalent customer-aligned systems or solutions architecture role.
  • Proven experience supporting and building trust with large enterprise accounts, particularly in high-compliance or highly regulated industries such as financial services.
  • Ability to connect technical capabilities to business outcomes and build trust with hands-on engineers and executive leaders.
  • Prior experience with modern edge cloud or WAAP platforms, API gateway technologies, or hyperscaler cloud networking practices.
  • Understanding of web application security, API protection (including OWASP API Top 10), automated threat mitigation, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Experience with container environments such as Kubernetes or OpenShift, modern ingress controllers, API gateways, or service mesh technologies such as NGINX.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and hybrid connectivity patterns.
  • Experience with scripting using Python, Go, or Bash, or declarative configuration tools and practices such as Terraform, Ansible, or GitOps.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise ADCs, traffic management, and security infrastructure, with an interest in guiding customers toward modern hybrid environments.
  • In-depth understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, HTTP/2, SSL/TLS, DNS, and Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • BS/BA degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical industry experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with securing or optimizing emerging AI workloads, LLM inference endpoints, or modern data services.
  • Relevant industry certifications, such as Kubernetes CKA, Cloud Solutions Architect certifications, or CISSP, or equivalent self-directed learning.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with CISOs, Cloud Architects, and Platform Engineering leaders to translate business goals into resilient, scalable architectural blueprints.
  • Guide enterprise customers in evolving BIG-IP foundations into modern hybrid architectures that connect data-center infrastructure with distributed cloud and containerized environments.
  • Lead technical discovery, design validation, and solution demonstrations for Web Application and API Protection (WAAP), Bot Defense, DDoS mitigation, and Zero Trust access.
  • Help organizations modernize traffic management, Kubernetes ingress patterns, AI inference pipelines, and AI Gateway architectures.
  • Demonstrate Infrastructure-as-Code workflows, including Terraform or Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines to bring NetOps, SecOps, and DevOps teams together.
  • Lead technical evaluations, identify customer priorities, and validate F5's differentiated value in competitive environments.
  • Share customer engagement insights with Product and Engineering teams to inform distributed cloud and security roadmaps.
