Senior Solution Architect

Gusto•Denver, GA

About The Position

Gusto is hiring a Senior Solution Architect for the most senior individual-contributor role in Solutions Engineering. The position owns technical strategy and standards for the function and serves as the final technical escalation point for rare, high-ambiguity problems that span deals, route-to-market segments, and teams. The role requires translating between technical and business contexts and representing Solutions Engineering in conversations with Product, Engineering, and go-to-market leadership. The architect will lead the technical strategy and hands-on implementation for high-stakes enterprise and partner integrations, including deep API and OAuth-based work from initial authorization through ongoing customization. They will connect engineering and platform teams with go-to-market teams to ensure promised integrations ship, turn bespoke implementations into reusable patterns and tooling, and use cross-account insights to influence product and engineering roadmaps. The role operates with autonomy and has no standard escalation path above it for day-to-day technical decisions. Gusto has offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees based in those locations are expected to work in-office on designated days approximately two to three days per week, or more depending on role. Remote work is possible when approved, with a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection required. The role's targeted OTE cash compensation is $150,000–$185,000 in Denver and most remote locations; final compensation depends on factors including location, experience, and expertise.

  • Strong track record of influencing product and engineering roadmaps through structured technical feedback and pattern recognition across multiple accounts or problems.
  • Deep fluency in Salesforce/CRM, API and integration architecture (including OAuth/token-based authorization flows), and payroll, tax, and compliance systems.
