Senior Software QA Engineer
About The Position
Join CIBC's Technology team to lead and coordinate software testing activities. The role is hands-on across the systems testing process, translating business requirements into test cases, and ensuring client needs are met with high-quality products that satisfy business and system requirements. You will assign and oversee test-case execution, coach team members, create test plans and strategies, and provide estimates. You will also coordinate project testing, communicate progress and risks to stakeholders, and ensure test deliverables are approved and aligned with project timelines, budgets, and goals.
Requirements
- Experience in software development testing, automation, and software process improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate detailed information meaningfully.
- Ability to investigate complex problems and make sense of information.
- Ability to work collaboratively and share expertise.
Nice To Haves
- Experience writing and executing SQL queries.
- Software development experience in Java, C#, Python, VBScript, or similar languages.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and translate business requirements into test cases.
- Design and manage end-to-end testing activities for projects across the business.
- Assign and oversee the execution of test cases.
- Create test plans and testing strategies, and provide estimates.
- Provide team members with ongoing feedback, support, coaching, and mentorship.
- Identify potential issues throughout test phases and suggest improvements or enhancements.
- Identify project obstacles and risks that may affect timelines or success.
- Provide regular project status updates to the business and communicate with stakeholders.
- Escalate issues when necessary.
- Ensure test deliverables are received, approved, and aligned with project timelines, budgets, and goals.
