Senior Software Engineer, Prediction Markets Platform

Crypto.com•Chicago, IL
•$200,000 - $230,000•Hybrid

About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer will help build and shape the platform that lists and settles event contracts on Crypto.com’s CFTC-regulated exchange, covering sports, crypto, and other real-world events. The platform ingests data from multiple sports and market providers, turns events into tradeable contracts, and settles them after events conclude. Because settlement moves real money, the systems must prioritize correctness and auditability as well as speed. The role owns the design of Go backend services and leads the migration of business-critical workflows from Python and Airflow to Go services and durable job processing without disrupting live markets. It includes building accurate, idempotent data pipelines and resilient settlement logic, making technical decisions across teams, mentoring engineers, and participating in on-call and incident response. The position works closely with trading, operations, compliance, and product teams across time zones.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience building and running production backend systems, with ownership from design through on-call.
  • Strong Go skills, or deep experience in another backend language and a clear willingness to work primarily in Go.
  • Deep PostgreSQL knowledge, including schema design, migrations, query performance, transactions, and isolation levels.
  • Experience designing distributed systems, including concurrency, idempotency, retries, at-least-once processing, and failure handling.
  • A record of leading cross-team projects and making sound architectural trade-offs.
  • Clear writing, good judgment, and comfort working with unclear requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with prediction markets, sportsbooks, exchanges, or sports data feeds such as OpticOdds, LSports, StatsPerform, or Sportradar.
  • Experience with ledgers, payments, settlement, or other systems where money is at stake.
  • Experience with Redis, Kafka, or PostgreSQL-backed job queues such as River.
  • Python and Airflow experience to support the migration.
  • React and TypeScript experience.
  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD.
  • Experience in regulated environments such as CFTC/DCM, FINRA, or similar.
  • Startup or zero-to-one experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and own Go backend services that list and settle event contracts around the clock.
  • Lead the migration of business-critical workflows from Python and Airflow to Go services and durable job processing without disrupting live markets.
  • Design pipelines that ingest data from multiple providers, match the same event across providers, and accurately and idempotently reconcile differences.
  • Build resilient settlement logic that handles late or corrected results, cancellations, voided markets, provider outages, and race conditions.
  • Write and review design documents, establish engineering standards, and lead technical decisions across teams.
  • Mentor engineers through code review, pairing, and design feedback.
  • Participate in on-call, lead incident response, and address the causes of recurring incidents.
  • Work with trading, operations, compliance, and product teams across time zones.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary.
  • Attractive annual leave entitlement, including birthday and work anniversary leave.
  • 401(k) plan with employer match.
  • Eligibility for company-sponsored group health, dental, vision, and life/disability insurance.
  • Flexible work hours and a hybrid setup.
  • Internal mobility program offering opportunities to pursue a different scope.
