About The Position

Atmosphere is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead platform engineering initiatives and own the infrastructure, delivery pipelines, and observability tooling that engineering teams rely on. The platform supports a streaming service serving more than 60,000 businesses and 150 million monthly viewers. The role is intended for a software engineer with a strong understanding of application and service development who also wants to own how software is built, shipped, and operated. The engineer will partner with teams across engineering to help them ship more quickly and confidently, using AI extensively to deliver platform initiatives.

Requirements

  • Computer science degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production services.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Strong fundamentals in APIs, service-to-service communication, authentication, data stores, caching, and system design.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure and delivery tooling, including infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Security-minded approach to identity, network exposure, authentication boundaries, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Heavy, effective daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar, including agentic workflows, skills, plugins, or MCP integrations.
  • Bias toward simplicity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Terraform or similar tools, including module design, state management, and detecting drift.
  • Experience building CI/CD across many services.
  • Experience running containerized and serverless workloads in production on AWS, such as ECS and Lambda.
  • Experience leading a major database, runtime, or framework upgrade end to end.
  • Experience building AI tools for other engineers, such as skills, plugins, MCP servers, or agent workflows.
  • Experience with streaming media, ad tech, or large device fleets.

Responsibilities

  • Use AI as a core part of planning, building, and shipping.
  • Build tooling that helps other engineers use AI effectively.
  • Own infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD, including module design and standards, keeping declared infrastructure aligned with reality, and maintaining a fast, reliable path from commit to production.
  • Define organization-wide observability and resilience patterns, ensuring services are measurable, debuggable, and alertable by default; establish safe deployment patterns and root-cause-focused incident response.
  • Lead upgrades of datastores, runtimes, frameworks, and SDKs ahead of end-of-life deadlines, including required application-code changes.
  • Automate recurring toil, such as dependency upgrades and environment provisioning.
  • Drive security remediation by triaging cloud security findings, hardening identity and network configuration, and closing authentication gaps.
  • Simplify the platform by decommissioning unused infrastructure, deleting dead code, and managing infrastructure footprint and cloud costs.
  • Work cross-functionally to prioritize infrastructure investments by impact.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary.
  • Company equity.
  • Company 401(k) with employer matching.
  • Competitive insurance plans.
  • Flexible Time Off Policy.
