About The Position

IcyBox is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own its internal operations platform, the system used across the business for merchandising, operations, finance, growth, and customer support. This is a full-stack product role: you will work with internal users to identify what to build and deliver features end to end, often within days.

You will design and build across a Rust backend and React frontend, covering work from database schema through user interface. The platform supports operational workflows including catalog and inventory management, pricing, order fulfillment, customer support, analytics, and integrations with external services. You will also help ensure the system is safe to operate through role-based access, audit trails, safe migrations, and performance under production load. The role is in person at IcyBox’s New York City office five days a week.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience, with experience in both backend and frontend development.
• Strong backend skills in Rust, or in another typed language such as Go, Kotlin, or TypeScript, together with a clear interest in moving to Rust.
• Solid React and TypeScript skills, including data fetching and state management, such as TanStack Query.
• Experience building data-dense user interfaces, including tables, filters, forms, and charts.
• Strong PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including schema design, migrations, and query performance.
• Product sense, including understanding why an operator needs something before building it and caring about fast, pleasant-to-use internal tools.
• Comfort owning features end to end in a small, high-velocity team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with internal tools, admin platforms, or ERP-like systems at an e-commerce, marketplace, or fintech company.
• Data warehouse experience, such as Snowflake or dbt, or experience building analytics and experimentation tooling.
• Experience working on the AWS platform.
• Experience using AI coding tools effectively in daily work.
• Startup or high-growth company experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and build features across a Rust backend and React frontend, from database schema to user interface.
• Build tools for operational workflows such as catalog and inventory management, pricing, order fulfillment, and customer support.
• Build dashboards, reporting, and analytics on the company’s data warehouse to turn data into decisions.
• Integrate the platform with external services and maintain reliable integrations as they scale.
• Make the system safe to operate through role-based access, audit trails, safe migrations, and performance under production load.
• Work closely with internal teams to understand their workflows and replace manual processes and spreadsheets with fast, simple tools.
• Own features end to end, including deciding what to build and shipping it.
