About The Position

Oracle is hiring a Senior Platform Software Engineer to support and improve OCI File Storage Services and platform components. The role combines production operations for distributed cloud storage with software development, debugging, reliability engineering, and operational automation across pre-production and production environments. The engineer owns moderately complex platform components or SDK areas, evolves contracts for multi-tenant use, and leads team-level improvements to integration frameworks and developer tooling. The position involves deep debugging across a bounded set of distributed services, implementing resilience and capacity improvements, and maintaining documentation and adoption guidance. The engineer also collaborates with development, operations, networking, security, and partner teams to resolve customer-impacting issues and improve service availability, performance, security, and customer experience. Oracle lists a U.S. hiring range of $87,800 to $209,500 per annum; the role may also be eligible for bonus and equity. Oracle describes a comprehensive benefits package that includes insurance, retirement savings, paid leave, and other programs.

  • Experience developing automation for provisioning, deployment, monitoring, remediation, or operational workflows.
  • Understanding of storage protocols, data protection, backup, replication, and disaster-recovery concepts.
  • A demonstrated automation mindset, including identifying repetitive operations and toil, safely automating them, and measuring improvements.
  • Creative and analytical problem solving, including structured brainstorming and root-cause analysis to produce durable solutions for recurring problems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine service operations, including host and storage-system management, security and compliance activities, ticket resolution, and customer notifications.
  • Monitor and maintain the availability, reliability, performance, and capacity of OCI File Storage Services across pre-production and production environments.
  • Participate in customer-impacting incidents, lead timely mitigation, coordinate with partner teams, and drive long-term corrective actions.
  • Review and approve operational readiness for new service features and changes.
  • Execute and own software and infrastructure deployments using approved automated tools and change-management practices.
  • Identify recurring incidents, ticket noise, operational gaps, and sources of toil; create automation, bugs, runbooks, metrics, and alarms to address them.
  • Investigate performance, capacity, networking, host, and storage-system issues, escalating when deeper product or vendor expertise is required.
  • Identify growth trends and provide input to capacity planning and service scaling.
  • Create and improve alarms, dashboards, operational procedures, troubleshooting guides, and service documentation.
