Senior Platform Software Engineer

About The Position

Owns moderately complex components within platform services or SDKs and leads team-level improvements to integration frameworks and developer tooling. Performs deep debugging across a bounded set of distributed services, drives fixes that protect downstream consumers and upgrade paths, and analyzes usage, performance, and error budgets for specific platform surfaces. Implements targeted resilience and capacity optimizations and authors and curates team-scoped documentation, samples, and adoption guidance. The role designs and develops software, systems, and services aligned with predefined architecture. It includes building and maintaining platform components and APIs, debugging and resolving software and customer issues, applying secure coding and quality practices, and conducting performance optimization. The engineer manages work independently, collaborates across teams, shares knowledge, and contributes to continuous learning and process improvement. The role also uses AI coding agents such as ChatGPT Codex to assist throughout the software development lifecycle, with responsibility for validating the resulting work to production-quality standards.

Requirements

Experience with agentic software development using ChatGPT Codex or comparable AI coding agents.
Ability to delegate well-defined development tasks to AI coding agents and validate outputs through testing, code review, and sound engineering judgment.
Familiarity with iterative prompt design, context management, and repository-aware development workflows.
Experience using ChatGPT Codex to support software development across implementation, debugging, refactoring, test generation, code review, and documentation.
Working knowledge of software architecture decisions and best practices.
Ability to design and develop software aligned with predefined system architecture.
Ability to implement and troubleshoot APIs, including versioning, lifecycle, and interoperability.
Knowledge of software testing, quality assurance, error logging, monitoring, and observability.
Ability to perform performance profiling and optimization.
Knowledge of secure coding practices and development standards.
Ability to collaborate across teams and independently manage work, priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
Ability to troubleshoot standard and non-standard issues and escalate more complex issues appropriately.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve a bounded platform component, such as a service module or SDK area, including its contracts for multi-tenant use.
Debug issues across a limited-service graph and drive compatibility-safe remediation plans.
Implement resilience and capacity patterns and document adoption guidance for team consumers.
Use AI coding agents to support implementation, testing, debugging, refactoring, code review, and documentation, while validating their outputs.
Design software solutions and help identify requirements to achieve business and operational goals.
Follow and suggest improvements to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
Develop software features and enhancements from design specifications and document software designs and code.
Lead code reviews in designated areas and contribute to improvements.
Debug, troubleshoot, and fix moderately complex software issues.
Implement functional and non-functional testing, quality assurance, error logging, monitoring, and observability.
Profile and optimize software performance and troubleshoot API functionality and integration issues.
Implement API versioning, lifecycle, and interoperability strategies.
Design and develop software, systems, and services that align with predefined architecture, collaborating with team leads to ensure alignment.
Implement performance optimization and scalability strategies.
Collaborate with teams and customers to understand customer issues, align solutions, and provide technical guidance where appropriate.
Coach and guide others, advocate for customer interests, and suggest product enhancements based on feedback.
Resolve customer issues in a timely manner and communicate effectively; implement issue-handling and training processes.
Investigate complex product maintenance issues and work toward short- and long-term solutions.
Follow development practices and coding standards, maintain code quality, and apply secure coding practices.
Keep current with industry best practices and apply them to software development.
Perform maintenance and testing for systems requiring upgrades or patches, including critical vulnerability patching.
Improve automation, testing, and debugging to support system availability, health, and reliability.
Manage work, timelines, and deliverables independently; reprioritize and suggest adjustments as needed.
Collaborate across teams, understand stakeholder and customer needs, and listen to diverse perspectives.
Identify and address standard and non-standard issues, escalating more complex issues as appropriate.
Analyze information from multiple sources to troubleshoot errors and contribute to knowledge sharing.
Seek feedback and training, build new skills, and contribute to continuous learning.
Recommend updates to team processes, protocols, and workflows to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
