About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer for Workforce Payments, you will work on the core computation layer powering Justworks’ payroll, money movement, and tax calculation products. The team operates at the heart of the platform’s financial accuracy and compliance, building systems that help customers pay their workforce confidently and accurately. You will lead technical decision-making and take initiative on projects that support business goals, including scaling tax and money movement capabilities, improving the integrity of the financial ledger, and developing robust interfaces for payroll data. The role is suited to someone who enjoys solving complex financial problems and building reliable, precise systems as part of a growing team. The position involves independently owning large-scoped projects from discovery through launch, collaborating cross-functionally, improving system performance and reliability, and advancing engineering practices through technical leadership, knowledge-sharing, and mentorship. You will also contribute to high-volume, fault-tolerant infrastructure, testing and monitoring systems, continuous deployment, and the secure handling of sensitive data.

Requirements

At least 7 years of professional hands-on experience.
Mastery of modern server-side languages.
Proficiency with SQL.
Proficiency with cloud infrastructure management; AWS is preferred.
Experience supporting and mentoring other engineers and acting as a force multiplier.
Experience working closely with designers and product managers.
Demonstrated ability to build, deploy, and maintain large-scale, complex applications.

Nice To Haves

Golang experience; it is a plus but not required.
Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure management.
