About The Position

Taxfyle is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build its work management platform. This is the company’s highest individual-contributor level, intended for engineers who want to deepen their technical expertise and lead without moving into management. The role brings subject-matter expertise across multiple system areas, makes architectural decisions relied upon by the team, and increases the effectiveness of other engineers. It also translates product requirements from multiple stakeholders into coherent solutions for the team to implement. The Senior Software Engineer owns outcomes, thinks at the system level, and helps set technical direction across Engineering. The role works with the Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer to establish engineering practices, leads a pod technically, contributes to roadmap and scoping discussions with Product, and communicates decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders. The position is based in Coconut Grove, Florida, and is described as an in-office role with remote-work flexibility.

Requirements

  • Preferred: 6 or more years of experience building and shipping production-quality software.
  • Proficiency with C#, React, TypeScript, Node.js, .NET, GCP, Postgres, Pub/Sub, and Elasticsearch.
  • A demonstrated record of making architectural decisions with team-wide impact.
  • Experience independently owning and delivering multi-part, cross-functional projects.
  • Deep expertise in multiple areas of a complex codebase and ability to handle genuinely ambiguous problems.
  • Experience developing high-performance, scalable, distributed systems.
  • A strong mentorship track record, with evidence that colleagues improve through feedback and coaching.
  • Ability to drive engineering best practices and establish standards adopted by the team.
  • Positive attitude, passion for sharing knowledge, and strong commitment to code quality.
  • A related bachelor’s degree is appreciated but not required; equivalent practical experience is valued, and candidates from non-traditional backgrounds are welcome.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience establishing engineering frameworks or practices adopted by an entire team.
  • Background leading technical direction in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Experience contributing to product roadmaps, scoping, and technical strategy with Product and leadership.
  • Experience with AI, automation, or developer tooling that improves team productivity at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Build high-quality, innovative, and high-performing software solutions.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert across multiple areas of the system and technology stack.
  • Make sound architectural and technical decisions with team-wide impact, using first-principles reasoning and documenting trade-offs.
  • Own delivery of significant, complex projects with multiple moving parts and full autonomy.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early, raise concerns before they become problems, and unblock others.
  • Set code-review standards and enforce patterns that establish the bar for the team.
  • Mentor L1 and L2 engineers through deliberate pairing and feedback-oriented code reviews.
  • Establish and maintain engineering practices in partnership with the Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer.
  • Lead the pod technically by setting direction, ensuring alignment, and translating product decisions into technical plans.
  • Collaborate with Product on roadmap and scoping conversations.
  • Clearly communicate architectural decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adapt to the complexity and ambiguity of a fast-growing company and evolving product.
