About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will serve as a senior technical contributor and design leader, owning complex components and services, driving engineering standards, and influencing cross-team architecture and execution. You will help elevate quality, reliability, and speed to market. The role leads technical design and delivery of complex full-stack capabilities using Java/Spring Boot and React/Angular, and drives event-driven patterns with Kafka. It establishes engineering practices for testing, automation, CI/CD quality gates, and observability while owning production excellence through incident reduction, root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and operational readiness. The engineer also mentors colleagues and influences technical direction across squads and partner teams. The role promotes enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes. It establishes standards for validating AI outputs, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and applies software development lifecycle tools and automation capabilities to improve their value.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for coding, code review, test acceleration, or troubleshooting, including setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
  • Deep expertise in Java 8 or later, Spring Boot, microservices, and React or Angular.
  • Strong Kafka and event-driven architecture experience, including retries, idempotency, dead-letter queue patterns, and schema/versioning.
  • Experience with SQL databases, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Strong NoSQL experience with Cassandra, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch, including data modeling, reliability, and scale.
  • Strong experience with Cloud Foundry or AWS and CI/CD strategy and execution.
  • Demonstrated leadership in design reviews, mentoring, and cross-team technical alignment.
  • Ability to work with observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, and Grafana.
  • Experience building resilient, highly available applications, considering failure modes, recovery, and operational readiness.
  • Working knowledge of secure engineering practices and designing to meet Cyber Security and Technology Control requirements, such as authentication and authorization, secure APIs, data protection, and dependency hygiene.

Nice To Haves

  • Cross-team delivery leadership experience.
  • PCI experience.
  • AWS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices, including code review and refactoring, test strategy acceleration, and incident or root-cause analysis support.
  • Establish consistent standards for validating AI-assisted outputs, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and promote reuse of effective patterns.
  • Apply software development lifecycle tools, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
  • Lead technical design and delivery of complex full-stack capabilities using Java/Spring Boot and React/Angular.
  • Drive event-driven patterns with Kafka, including idempotency, retries, ordering, and error handling.
  • Establish engineering practices for test strategy, automation, CI/CD quality gates, and observability.
  • Own production excellence through incident reduction, root-cause prevention, performance tuning, and operational readiness.
  • Mentor engineers and influence technical direction across squads and partner teams.
  • Coach engineers on safe and compliant adoption of AI-assisted tools in delivery practices.
  • Design resilient, highly available architectures that account for failure modes, recovery, and operational readiness.
  • Design and implement secure engineering practices that meet Cyber Security and Technology Control requirements.
