Senior Software Engineer — Full Stack

Apple•Cupertino, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

We’re looking for a self-starting, language-agnostic Full Stack Senior Software Engineer driven by solving complex data problems and building intuitive, reliable systems for real users. The role is on a small, high-trust, product-focused team that works in person in Cupertino. The team moves quickly, builds iteratively, and values pragmatic problem-solving over allegiance to a specific technology stack. AI is integrated into both engineering practices and delivered products, including agentic workflows for data cleaning and administrative tasks, operational dashboards, and conversational tools. This position is within the Environmental Systems teams, which build mission-critical systems that empower Apple to design, build, and scale its products. The role involves full-stack work at the intersection of complex physical operations, data ecosystems, and modern software design. The engineer partners with product designers, product managers, domain specialists, and other engineers to turn nuanced operational workflows into clear, resilient software. Responsibilities span data modeling, backend service architecture, responsive user interfaces, and AI integration. The team emphasizes rapid iteration, thoughtful code reviews, high automated test coverage, and ownership from initial design through production.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of professional full-stack or backend software engineering experience.
  • Track record of delivering end-to-end web applications and distributed systems.
  • Ability to work productively across multiple programming languages and frameworks, selecting technologies based on the problem.
  • Deep experience designing, modeling, and querying relational and non-relational data systems, such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Ability to design backend APIs and services and build responsive web frontends, such as with React and TypeScript or modern equivalents.
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI into engineering workflows, including agentic workflows for automated data cleaning, data transformation, and system administration.
  • Experience building or integrating AI-powered application features such as conversational interfaces, semantic search, or smart analytics dashboards.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and clear communication; proactive work with product managers, product designers, and engineering peers in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
  • Commitment to clean, maintainable, well-tested code, with observability and monitoring in mind.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building internal tools, data platforms, or analytics dashboards for operational, manufacturing, or supply chain environments.
  • Experience deploying autonomous AI agents, LLM orchestration frameworks, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines in production.
  • Familiarity with containerization, such as Docker, and modern CI/CD deployment environments.
  • Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, or OpenTelemetry.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product designers, product managers, domain specialists, and engineers to translate operational workflows into clear, resilient software.
  • Design data models and architect backend services for complex operational workflows and data pipelines.
  • Build responsive, user-centric web frontends and clean backend APIs and services.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into engineering workflows and software products.
  • Build or leverage agentic workflows for automated data cleaning, data transformation, and system administration.
  • Develop and deliver end-to-end web applications and distributed systems.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code, with observability and monitoring in mind.
  • Participate in rapid iterations and thoughtful code reviews, and take ownership from whiteboard to production.
