About the position
The Media & Intelligence team at Loom is seeking passionate software engineers to join them in building efficient, reliable, and capable infrastructures to unlock the power of Loom. As a team member, you will create and optimize cross-platform technologies that power the product experience of Loom creation, editing, and viewing. You will have the opportunity to influence the roadmap and chart the future of Loom innovations. This role requires deep knowledge and hands-on experience with complicated distributed systems, as well as proficiency in C++.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build server-side and client-side infrastructure for video messaging products
- Design and implement innovative media features to differentiate Loom's products and services
- Identify and drive initiatives to improve media infrastructure and reduce operation and engineering costs
- Uphold a high standard of engineering excellence to enhance the product experience and brand perception
- Diagnose and improve the quality of the end-to-end video experience across multiple platforms
- Influence the team's roadmap and impact the company's strategy
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
- Have 4+ years of experience in software development
- Possess deep knowledge and hands-on experience with distributed systems
- Work across multiple platforms, operating systems, and programming languages
- Understand concurrency, multithreading, and real-time systems
- Proficient in C++
- Experience with profiling and optimizing resource-intensive applications
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Optional/preferred qualifications include experience with cloud services, streaming technologies, FFmpeg, media codecs and container formats, video/audio distribution or streaming technologies, and JavaScript
