About the position
EvolutionIQ is seeking a Python Data Engineer/Software Engineer with experience in building scalable data platforms. The role involves leading Proof of Concepts, developing self-service analytics tools, and collaborating with various teams to develop algorithms and introduce new big data technologies. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, along with expertise in Python and modern big data storage technologies, are required. Experience with GCP or AWS, deploying systems in production, and familiarity with tools like Dagster/Airflow, BigQuery, and Kubernetes are considered advantageous. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills and have a passion for solving complex business problems.
Responsibilities
- Lead Proof of Concepts to drive new ideas and influence the future direction of the technology stack
- Build self-service analytics tools to help engineering teams derive actionable metrics out of large volumes of raw data
- Partner with EvolutionIQ’s Product, ML and Engineering teams to develop algorithms that answer complex questions on claim data, build out existing data products, and create new ones
- Work closely with the DevOps team to develop monitoring and alerting scripts on an array of data pipelines
- Introduce new big data technologies to engineers with a focus on business problems that require making sense of large-scale structured and unstructured datasets
Requirements
- 5+ years of industry experience in building scalable data platforms
- Expert knowledge in Python with problem-solving and debugging skills
- Validated software engineering experience in design, test, source code management, and CI/CD practices
- Experience using modern big data storage technologies such as Apache Parquet or Avro
- Experience in developing high performance and scalable data intensive systems on hybrid cloud environment
- Experience with tools and methodologies to test large scale distributed computing systems
- Crisp written and verbal communication skills
- 3+ years experience in deploying systems on GCP or AWS (Even Better if You Have)
- Owned, deployed and maintained model serving pipelines in production (Even Better if You Have)
- Familiarity with Dagster/Airflow, BigQuery, GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes, sklearn, keras/TensorFlow/pytorch, dbt, data modeling, Python/Pandas data frameworks, and scalable technical concepts/solutions (Even Better if You Have)
