Senior Software Engineer - Cloud

Lambda is seeking a highly experienced individual to join their team in building the world's best deep learning cloud. The successful candidate will be responsible for building software and core cloud features within Lambda's GPU cloud, as well as contributing to the architecture and design of large-scale distributed systems. Strong understanding of public cloud features, Linux, and engineering principles is required. The ideal candidate should have a track record of leading and taking ownership of cross-team projects, be results-driven, and value collaboration and communication within a high-performing team.

• Build software for training models across hundreds of GPUs interconnected with state-of-the-art networking fabric
• Build core cloud features like VMs, VPCs, firewalls, distributed file systems within our data centers
• Implement business-critical product features from conception to launch using Python
• Contribute to the architecture and design of resilient, large-scale distributed systems
• Understand public cloud features such as SDN, block storage, distributed file systems, and identity management
• Understand Linux networking, process management, security, virtualization, and systemd
• Have a strong engineering background in EECS, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or Physics
• Lead and take full ownership over large, ambiguous, cross-team projects from conception to production
• Enjoy moving fast and making a large business impact
• Value working on a team of high performers that hold each other accountable
• Be a self-starter, curious, and not afraid to ask when in doubt
• Be a quick learner and enjoy learning new technologies

• 8+ years of experience implementing business-critical product features from conception to launch using Python
• 8+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design of resilient, large scale distributed systems
• Strong understanding of public cloud features (e.g. SDN, block storage, distributed file systems, identity management)
• Strong understanding of Linux (e.g. networking, process management, security, virtualization, systemd)
• Strong engineering background - EECS preferred, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics
• Have led and taken full ownership over large, ambiguous, cross team projects from conception to production
• Enjoy moving fast and making a large business impact
