About The Position

The Senior Specialist of Self-Pay Operations oversees and optimizes self-pay collections, including bad debt inventory and placements, acute and PRC inventory, and statement holds and volumes. The role supports accurate billing, effective collection strategies, and detailed analysis and reporting for leadership. The successful candidate brings healthcare billing and collections experience, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to quality for clients.

This is a remote position, though the associate must be willing and able to travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations as business needs require. The position is limited to individuals who reside and are authorized to work in the United States. Compensation is $20.45–$21.85 per hour, depending on experience. A Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification is required within nine months of hire and is company paid.

Requirements

• 1 to 3 years of required work experience.
• Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification required within 9 months of hire; company paid.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI, to explore better processes and reduce friction while improving patient and client experiences.
• Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States.
• Must be willing and able to travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations as business needs require.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Oversee the self-pay accounts receivable process and ensure accounts progress through the self-pay life cycle as designed.
• Manage bad debt inventory, placements, and returns; reconcile bad debt transactions; and handle vendor recall requests.
• Oversee acute and PRC (Physician Revenue Cycle) inventory.
• Review deceased accounts to ensure proper handling and resolution.
• Review and resolve statement holds to support timely billing and collections.
• Prepare and analyze self-pay aging performance reports, including ATB (Aged Trial Balance) review summaries for leadership and external teams.
• Identify opportunities that affect aging self-pay accounts receivable.
• Ensure billing and collections activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Provide guidance and support to the self-pay operations team and foster a collaborative, productive work environment.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
