About The Position

North Point Technology is hiring a hands-on Senior SAP SD Functional Lead to support a global automotive and industrial manufacturing client. The role leads the SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) and Order-to-Cash (OTC) functional workstream through requirements gathering, process design, configuration, testing, cutover, go-live, and stabilization. The lead works directly with business stakeholders, independently facilitates discovery and fit-to-standard workshops, translates operational requirements into practical SAP processes and configuration, and owns functional solution design from requirements through go-live. The position is based in Novi, Michigan, with onsite/hybrid work, and is contract-to-hire with an intended transition to direct employment with the client after an initial contract period. The role includes configuring end-to-end SD processes, defining integration requirements across SAP and external applications, writing functional specifications, and partnering with ABAP, integration, and Fiori teams. It also supports manufacturing EDI/IDoc interfaces, testing and business acceptance, cutover and go-live readiness, knowledge transfer, and post-go-live issue resolution. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future, including after conversion to direct client employment.

Requirements

10+ years of hands-on SAP SD/OTC functional consulting experience.
Personally led the SD/OTC workstream through at least one full-cycle S/4HANA implementation or rollout, including requirements, solution design, configuration, testing, and go-live.
Demonstrated ability to independently lead business workshops and translate requirements into detailed functional solutions.
Strong hands-on configuration experience across sales order management, pricing, delivery, billing, and output determination.
Ability to explain specific solution decisions owned, the business requirements behind them, and the resulting outcomes.
Strong understanding of SD integration with FI, MM, and PP.
Experience with EDI/IDoc integrations in a manufacturing environment.
Experience writing functional specifications and guiding technical teams through development and testing.
Strong communication skills and ability to explain SAP processes and recommendations to business users and technical teams.
Willingness to work onsite/hybrid in Novi, Michigan, and transition to direct client employment.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future, including upon conversion to direct client employment.

Nice To Haves

Automotive or industrial manufacturing implementation experience.
Experience leading multiple SAP implementations or global plant rollouts.
Experience with aATP, product allocation, and backorder processing.
Familiarity with API-based integrations and Fiori applications.
SAP S/4HANA Sales certification.

Responsibilities

Lead the SAP SD/OTC functional workstream across requirements gathering, process design, configuration, testing, cutover, go-live, and stabilization.
Facilitate business discovery and fit-to-standard workshops with sales, customer service, logistics, finance, and manufacturing stakeholders.
Ask targeted questions to understand current processes, requirements, exceptions, pain points, and integration dependencies.
Document AS-IS and TO-BE processes, identify gaps, and recommend solutions aligned with standard S/4HANA functionality and clean-core principles.
Own functional design decisions, explain options and tradeoffs, and secure alignment with business stakeholders.
Configure end-to-end SD processes, including sales orders, pricing and condition technique, delivery, billing, returns, intercompany, third-party, and consignment.
Define integration requirements across SD, FI, MM, PP, and external applications.
Write functional specifications for reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms, and partner with ABAP, integration, and Fiori teams through delivery.
Support manufacturing EDI/IDoc interfaces, including ORDERS, ORDRSP, DESADV, and INVOIC.
Lead SD functional testing and support SIT, UAT, defect resolution, and business acceptance.
Support cutover planning, go-live readiness, user knowledge transfer, and post-go-live issue resolution.
Troubleshoot complex OTC issues and address underlying process or configuration problems.
