About The Position

The Senior SAP Basis Consultant builds and manages client SAP environments and ensures their efficient operation. The role covers SAP system administration, performance tuning, upgrades, security, installations, migrations, integrations, and technical troubleshooting. The consultant collaborates with clients, business stakeholders, operating-system and database administrators, technical teams, and SAP support to develop and implement SAP solutions, including proofs of concept. The position also includes mentoring junior consultants, training end users and client personnel, maintaining technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with quality and information-security processes. Occasional travel to client sites or technical forums may be required, with travel specified as less than 5%.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university and 5–7 years of experience with design/development, SAP system installation, upgrades, and performance tuning; alternatively, 7–10 years of relevant experience without a degree.
Current CompTIA Security+ certification; if not already held, certification is required after selection.
Advanced understanding of SAP Basis tools and processes, including system builds, upgrades, client copies, operating systems, printing, backup and recovery, and high availability, across SAP products such as ECC, S/4HANA, and Fiori.
Self-starter and problem solver able to function in a dynamic, fast-paced, change-oriented environment.
Ability to anticipate and troubleshoot complex issues.
Ability to support, encourage, coach, and maintain accountability.
Strong organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail.
Exceptional critical and analytical thinking skills and ability to handle detailed processes and projects successfully.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality and attention to detail.
Ability to travel less than 5% for client-organized technical forums or site support.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an active government clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

SAP Certified Technology Associate – System Administration (SAP HANA) with SAP NetWeaver, SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA 2.0, or SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP S/4HANA System Administration.
Experience working with the Department of Defense or other federal agencies.
Demonstrated experience mentoring or formally training junior Basis consultants in a consulting or enterprise environment.
Experience leading or playing a key technical role in SAP system upgrades, migrations, or landscape consolidations.
Advanced experience with cloud-hosted SAP environments such as AWS, Azure, or SAP RISE, including migration planning and execution.
Experience designing and implementing high-availability and disaster-recovery strategies for SAP landscapes.
Advanced configuration experience with SAP Solution Manager for monitoring, alerting, and change management.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with clients and business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Contribute to SAP solution design and implementation, including building and implementing proofs of concept for projects or add-ons.
Provide technical expertise and support for SAP installations, migrations, and integrations.
Work with operating-system and database administrators to optimize system performance and ensure efficient operations.
Manage system performance, upgrades, corrections, transport management (CTS/TMS), client and landscape strategies, and batch scheduling.
Implement and manage SAP systems, including user administration, security measures, access controls, authentication, security-standard compliance, and performance monitoring.
Conduct training sessions for end users and client personnel on SAP Basis processes.
Create and maintain accurate technical documentation of SAP systems and processes in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Identify and resolve complex technical issues in SAP environments in coordination with technical teams and SAP support.
Share knowledge, provide leadership, and develop and deliver technical training.
Test and troubleshoot SAP Basis services to ensure alignment with documented business processes and requirements.
Stay current with SAP Basis functionality, enhancements, and best practices.
Travel occasionally to client sites for in-person support or technical forums.
Follow certified processes, participate in quality-assurance activities, and protect sensitive information in accordance with security policies.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the direct supervisor.
