About The Position

The SAP Basis Consultant I supports the build and management of client SAP environments, including system installation, configuration, maintenance, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting. Working alongside senior technical staff, this role develops expertise across the SAP landscape while contributing directly to client deliverables. The position supports SAP Data Migration, tests and troubleshoots SAP Data Services, and provides technical support for SAP systems, escalating complex issues as needed. It also collaborates with business, functional, and technical teams and with OS and database administrators to support project delivery and system performance. Rare travel to client sites may be required. The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an active government clearance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university and 0–2 years of experience in SAP Basis systems administration, software design/development, or related system administration work; alternatively, no degree and 1–3 years of relevant experience.
Must be a self-starter and problem solver able to function in a dynamic, fast-paced, change-oriented environment.
Strong organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail.
Exceptional critical and analytical thinking, with the ability to handle detailed processes and projects and troubleshoot simple and complex problems.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Limited travel required to client-organized technical forums and/or site support (less than 5%).
Must be able to obtain and maintain an active government clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with the Department of Defense or other federal agencies.
Exposure to SAP system administration tools and processes, such as system builds, client copies, backup, and recovery.
Familiarity with SAP products such as ECC, S/4HANA, or Fiori.
Coursework, certifications, or hands-on exposure to SAP Basis, SAP NetWeaver, or SAP HANA administration.
Familiarity with cloud-hosted environments such as AWS or Azure.
Interest in pursuing SAP Certified Technology Associate certifications.

Responsibilities

Manage multiple concurrent tasks and take initiative to identify and resolve issues in SAP Basis environments.
Support SAP Data Migration processes, learning and applying different migration approaches with the broader technical team.
Participate in meetings with business and functional teams and collaborate on project planning and delivery.
Build working knowledge across SAP systems and progressively take on more complex Basis tasks and responsibilities.
Test and troubleshoot SAP Data Services to ensure alignment with documented business processes and requirements.
Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems as part of the technical services team.
Provide technical support for SAP systems and escalate complex issues to senior team members as needed.
Perform system upgrades and patches to keep systems current and secure.
Monitor and help optimize system performance.
Review and apply technical documentation and procedures to support consistent, high-quality service delivery.
Work with OS and database administrators to support optimal SAP performance.
Support corrections, transport management (CTS/TMS), and batch scheduling activities.
Travel occasionally to client sites for in-person support or technical forums.
Follow certified processes, participate in quality assurance activities, and protect sensitive information in accordance with security policies.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the direct supervisor.
