About The Position

Parsons is hiring a Senior Roadway Engineer to join their Kansas City Transportation team. This role offers the opportunity to expand technical skills, working with civil engineers on major regional infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will report remotely from the Kansas City area. This position is part of Parsons' Critical Infrastructure team, which has over 80 years of experience designing and delivering infrastructure that connects and protects communities globally. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
  • Minimum of 8 years or more of experience in roadway design engineering
  • Solid roadway geometric design background with proficiency in roadway design software (e.g., MicroStation, InRoads, Open Roads)
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT design standards and guidelines
  • Intermediate skills with Excel
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of roadway projects, including concept, preliminary and final design, alignment, grading, and pavement design.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project progress and address any issues that arise.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project reviews.
