Senior Roadway Engineer
About The Position
Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP (WRA) is seeking a senior level Roadway Engineer to support the growth of their practice in Virginia Beach, VA. The role involves the planning and design of transportation and infrastructure projects, including intersection and interchange design, new roadway alignments, roadway widenings, interstate design, and pedestrian and bicycle facilities design. The Senior Project Engineer will supervise junior engineers, coordinate with other design disciplines, and manage project development, including client and subconsultant coordination. Responsibilities also include the design of horizontal and vertical alignments, development of roadway plans and profiles, roadside evaluation and design, maintenance of traffic design, preparation of construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Virginia or ability to obtain within six months through comity from another state
- 16+ years of progressive experience related to highway engineering including experience with VDOT
- Ability to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple assignments
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Master's degree
- Experience with design software tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads and AutoCAD
