About The Position

As a Senior Transportation Engineer, you’ll bring your experience in highways, streets, and roadway design to lead and support a wide range of projects—from conceptual planning through final design and construction. You’ll manage the design and delivery of transportation projects while working independently on smaller assignments and collaboratively on larger initiatives. This role involves applying advanced knowledge, sound engineering principles, and best practices to solve complex problems. The role of a Senior Transportation Engineer is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project. You will lead the design of assigned roadway projects to ensure reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The role will guide and mentor junior staff but will not have direct report responsibilities. Sitting in our Lexington, KY office, you’ll be exposed to a wide variety of roadway projects including corridors, interchanges, intersections, and mega projects.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in highway/roadway design is preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in MicroStation is a plus.
• Experience with OpenRoads is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and prepare complex engineering designs, plans, and drawings for a variety of projects, including urban and rural roadways, highways, and intersections.
• Apply advanced knowledge of transportation engineering principles and stay current on evolving methods and technologies.
• Assist with client production.
• Coordinate effectively with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Responsible for the design, plan production and quality reviews of assigned projects.
• Supervise and mentor engineers, CAD staff, and junior team members, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development.
