Senior RF Subsystem Engineer

RTX•Tucson, AZ
•$86,800 - $165,200•Onsite

About The Position

Raytheon’s Effector RF Team is seeking a Senior Engineer to contribute to the analysis, design, and implementation of RF subsystems and sensors within missile products. The engineer will provide RF subsystem and sensor support as part of an interdisciplinary team. This is an onsite role in Tucson, Arizona.

Requirements

  • Typically, a bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and at least 3 years of experience.
  • Relevant experience may include design, integration, and/or testing of RF subsystems or RF sensors.
  • Experience interacting across engineering disciplines, such as Systems, Mechanical, Software, and Algorithms, to define RF subsystem requirements and evaluate performance.
  • Ability to obtain an interim U.S. government-issued security clearance before the start date and special program access after starting.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of RF component technologies, including circuit card assemblies (CCAs), waveguides, planar or printed antennas, RF modules, and/or monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs).
  • Experience performing link budget analyses.
  • Understanding of antenna patterns and RF measurements with antennas and electronics.
  • Experience with phase noise, mixer conversion spurs, automatic gain control (AGC), sensitivity, intermodulation distortion (IMD), bit error rate, instantaneous bandwidth, adjacent channel interference, and ADC measurements or calculations, including Nyquist and SFDR.
  • Familiarity with spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and arbitrary waveform generators (ARB generators).
  • Understanding of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic vulnerability (EMV), including mitigation strategies in RF systems.
  • Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, test, and integrate RF sensors and subsystems across frequencies from MHz through millimeter-wave.
  • Support decomposition of system-level requirements into detailed RF component requirements.
  • Measure RF components, sensors, and subsystems, including performance in chamber and range environments.
  • Model and analyze link budgets, RF cascades, electromagnetic emissions (EME), antenna patterns, phase noise, receiver sensitivity, transmitter power, spurious signals, modulation, isolation, and ADC characteristics.

Benefits

  • Relocation based on candidate eligibility.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Short-term and long-term disability.
  • 401(k) match.
  • Flexible spending accounts.
  • Flexible work schedules.
  • Employee assistance program.
